Consider the U.S. Lucky

"Now That's What I Call Music! Vol 62"
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000BGUD0U/ref=pd_sim_pm_dp_3/203-5830788-2395125

DAMN! Vol 62?! At what rate do you have to release these "Now" cds in the UK that you already have 62? Was "Now That's What I Call Music! Vol 3" on vinyl? Those people in the UK must be the biggest music whores known to man. I'm willing to bet that they have almost zero means of downloading music for free.

The Series

This year's World Series had the lowest TV ratings for a WS ever. It's to be expected though. Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are HORRIBLE at the mic. I honestly can't listen to them speak...Buck's voice just goes on and on...blah blah..and noone ever knows what McCarver is talking about. And I don't like a cartoon baseball to tell me what a certain type of pitch does. I also don't like the fact that Fox uses the Series as a blatant advertisement for anything and everything non-baseball. Bernie Mac. Bernie Mac. Bernie Mac. House. Bones. Bones. House. After seeing all of those advertisements, I still don't know when those shows come on. Don't tell me that the ratings were due to the teams playing. Oswalt, Clemens, Biggio, Konerko, Garland, Garcia, the list goes on. The Astros and White Sox were loaded with all-star calibur talent. So why were the ratings low? The way the game was marketed. You had a team that hadn't won a Series since 1917. Where were the pre-Series specials on the White Sox? Where was all the hype that surrounded the Red Sox in 2004? Come on Fox, the ratings are there; you just have to go get them.

Swept

So the Padres lost. 7-4 to the Cards. I can't say that I wasn't expecting this but I really hoped for a win. I was really excited about the game...going back to Petco..the rowdy fans...then the game began. I promptly turned off the tv when we got down 7-zip early. Woody should have never started the game. The only thing he did right was pitch the first strike of the game. After that, the downward spiral began. 5 runs in 1.2 innings? At least we scored 4. That just doesn't take away the fact that there are no Padres games for almost 6 months.

Katrina Aftermath

Well I got my power back on yesterday at around 8pm. No real damage here at my house but thats not really important...New Orleans is in anarchy. I really can't believe my eyes when I see the news. And now a bus that was taking evacuees out of Nola flipped?!? 1 dead and several injured?!? I must be dreaming.

Katrina

Well, here comes another hurricane. Category 5 with 160 mph winds. This thing is a beast...I feel bad for New Orleans...I hate to say it, but this storm is one of the best looking storms I have ever seen. Perfect symmetry, defined eye...wow.

Update: Winds are at 175 mph now

Back to School

Summer is almost over. On Monday, school starts, and I'll be a senior. Seems like this summer has gone by really really fast. Working at Food World was an interesting experience to say the least. Note: When you say "I left my Bonus Card in my car," I don't believe you. I'll put in a card for you and say I believe you, but I really don't.

Re: Stadium Music

So this morning I sent an email to Jeremy, who works for the BayBears and who is in control of the stadium music. I gave him some suggestions such as batter intro songs and to not play as much country music. Here is his reply:

Matt, i appreciate your suggestions and will take them into consideration, however i will say that the gretchen wilson song intro, while not my choice, seems to be getting positive responnses. Furthermore, as far as country goes, I am from massachusetts originally, and hate most of it, however my superiors want me to play as much as possible
thank you
Jeremy

That made my day.

Oh Dan...

Today I was listening to the Dan Patrick Show on ESPN Radio when they said that Pete Rose would be reinstated into baseball and would be put on the Hall of Fame Ballot in December.

If you don't know, Pete Rose has been banned from baseball ever since 1989 when it was found out that he had bet on several games. Anyways, they even had Peter Gammons aka the Dalai Lama of baseball call into the show and say that Rose had in fact been reinstated and that he had a great chance to get in in his first year for eligibility. All this time I was about to shit my pants because I thought this was rediculous: even if Rose is an incredible player, the bottom line is that he broke the rules which voids himself from the record book.

They went on and on reading emails and such until they stopped for a second......and then Dan says "April Fools."
